Passive Atmospheric Sampling (PAS), semi-automated system

In order to explore the long-range transport of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) by the free troposphere, semi-automated passive samplers were deployed at Chacaltaya's summit for a short-term intensive campaign (2024-2025). These custom-made samplers were designed at the University of Stockholm's Department of Environmental Science (ACES) in collaboration with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (EAC). They complement a network of classical PAS samplers and dry deposition samplers that were also deployed between Chacaltaya and La Paz city specifically for this short-term campaign.
